How to Transform Squarespace Websites with Powerful Plugins
Unlocking your creativity by thinking beyond the native features that both Squarespace AND your go-to plugins offer.
What makes a powerful plugin?
Not all plugins are made the same.
And this is not to say that some are good and some are bad.
As long as the plugin allows you to achieve what you’re going for, I consider that a good plugin.
However, what I personally consider powerful plugins are the ones that:
Extend Squarespace’s native capabilities, in terms of functionality.
Can be easily adapted beyond their original purpose and style.
Can help improve project workflow and timelines.
Have you ever hit a wall with a client request?
Not knowing is Squarespace is capable of XYZ.
Not knowing if there’s a plugin that can do XYZ.
Unless what your looking for pretty much requires building the site on a different platform or integrating a third-party tool, in most scenarios, both Squarespace-specific (and third-party) plugins can help.
But sometimes that’s easier said than done: what plugin will do the trick? Which one do you use?
The KEY is to think outside of the box. To get creative.
To think about THE FUNCTIONALITY the plugin provides and not THE PLUGIN as a whole.
Now, sometimes that’s easier said than done so that’s exactly what I’m going to show you how to do today.
So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at how
powerful plugins + getting creative =
amazing site transformations
Case Study #1
Idea – Have content from a Gallery or Auto Layout section displayed as a “regular block” within a page section.
Challenge – Find a way to “pull” content from that kind of section into a regular one.
Plugins with that kind of functionality – tab and lightbox plugins.
Solution – tabs plugin with a single content “tab” + CSS to remove the tab portion.
